According to the news release from Elders, the traineeship program is aimed at reducing the skills shortage in regional Australia, giving the young people an opportunity to explore and pursue a career in agriculture.

“The Elders traineeship program develops a new generation of rural specialists within Australia to support our primary producers, while also allowing young people to see that agriculture has an exciting future,” said Elders group general manager Australia network, David Goodfellow.

“The trainees work with experienced Elders staff to learn the business of stock and station agency, including how to prepare and select stock for sale, providing advice on farm inputs and livestock products, and building client relationships. Elders has a long history in providing first-class training in agriculture, and has trained more professionals located in rural Australia than any other organisation.”

Mr Goodfellow further added that Elders is dedicated to continue its long term investment into professional service in the agricultural industry, encouraging people to apply for the 2014 traineeship program.

Adertisement

The 18-month program is specially designed to provide trainees with a nationally recognized qualification, i.e. a Certificate 4 in Agriculture, and an in-depth understanding of the agribusiness.

During the course of the program, trainees are placed in various agricultural branches and have the option to take on numerous roles. After they complete the program, they are placed in an operational role within the company, wherever a position is available and employment is possible.

Applications for the Elders traineeship program are open until January 31st, 2014.
