Monadelphous awarded $680 million contract on Ichthys LNG Project

Monadelphous, a leading Australian engineering group providing construction, maintenance and industrial services to the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors, has announced that it has been awarded a major construction contract for mechanical works at the Ichthys Project Onshore LNG Facilities in Darwin in the Northern Territory.

According to the ASX release issued by Monadelphous, the agreement with JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd (JKC), a joint venture between JGC Corporation and Kellogg Brown & Root Pty Ltd (KBR), is valued at approximately $680 million and the work on the project is set to be completed by mid-2016.

“We are very pleased to be awarded such a significant contract and to be participating on one of Australia’s world-class gas projects,” said Rob Velletri, Managing Director of Monadelphous.

“We look forward to working together with JKC, to successfully deliver on this important contract.”

According to the terms of the agreement the scope of work encompasses erection of piping and mechanical and structural steel for the Utility and Offsite Area.

The Ichthys LNG Project is to develop the Ichthys gas and condensate field discovered in the Browse Basin approximately 220 km off the north-west coast of Western Australia. The project is a joint venture between INPEX group companies (the Operator), major partner Total and the Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
