According to the media release by Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Andrew Cripps, public submissions on ResourcesQ partnering for prosperity will be accepted until 5 pm on Monday, 4 August 2014.

“The State Government has a strong plan to power-up regional Queensland and grow the state’s four pillar economy, creating a brighter future for families. The $37.9 billion sector is already a key pillar of the Queensland economy, contributing one in every four dollars to the economy and supporting one in every five jobs. It will also create jobs of the future for today’s children and it’s important that we have this vision,” the Minister said.

“Labor failed to take advantage of or grow the sector and still has no ideas, but we have a strong plan to build it. We are working with industry through our ResourcesQ partnership to ensure we have a strong, globally competitive resources sector so that all Queenslanders continue to benefit from our state’s resources wealth.”

A draft vision has already been developed and is based on five key themes: developing a globally competitive resources sector; planning for a strong resources future; leading in innovation, technology and services; creating shared value and engaging with community; and educating and skilling for a strong resources future.

Adertisement

“Now it is time for Queenslanders to have their say about the proposed ResourcesQ vision. Their feedback will help refine the vision, themes and objectives and guide the development of an action plan which will be finalised in September 2014.”

The initiative is set to position Queensland as the top state to do business in the resources sector. It will also drive modernisation and transformation in the way the Government delivers services for the sector and facilitates development.

Fostering greater industry and investment confidence in Queensland is another key objective of the long-term vision, as is ensuring that all Queenslanders will prosper from resources now and in the future.
