The investment is aimed at building a sustainable and productive forest and wood products industry in the South East by generating jobs and creating real investment opportunities.

Over $15 million in grants were awarded to successful applicants in Phase 1 and $4.5 million to four other projects in Phase 2.

“Continuing to build a sustainable industry is fundamental to the economic future of the region. The South East Forestry Partnerships Program supports new and existing businesses in the region to retain and create new jobs, and develop new markets and opportunities. Successful projects will be required to match Government funding, which means the total regional investment will be more than $14 million,” said Forests Minister Leon Bignell in a news release.

A great example is the Circa Group project funded under phase two, which will see the development of a range of renewable bio solvents in Mount Gambier, with potential partnerships with local sawmills.”

Interested parties are invited to apply for the available funding no later than 3 April 2015.

Only applicants who will provide a dedicated service to, or are located or intending to locate to the South East are eligible for funding.
