MMA Offshore announced it had guaranteed a vessel contract with Australian oil and gas exploration and production company, Beach Energy.

In a statement, MMA Offshore said its multi-purpose offshore vessel, MMA Coral, would support Beach Energy’s two production platforms in the Bass Strait. In addition, the vessel will provide subsea inspection and survey services, as well as support for future drilling activities.

The vessel contract is for a fixed term of one year with an additional one-year option beginning in late November 2022. Along with Beach Energy’s operations, the MMA Coral will also be advertised to the wider region for ad hoc work scopes.

The MMA Coral will be equipped with a work class ROV spread before delivery in order to perform specialised underwater scopes. A novel modular active heave compensated (AHC) lifting spread from the vessel, provided by local Victorian business Thrust Maritime, will also be used in several work scopes.

Adertisement

MMA Offshore Managing Director David Ross expressed the company’s delight to be assisting Beach Energy, noting MMA Offshore looks forward to conducting its business in a safe and effective manner.

“With the installation of new subsea technology on the MMA Coral, we are pleased to be expanding our operational portfolio further within the Bass Strait and adjacent region,” Ross stated.

The MMA Coral is a Multi-Purpose Offshore Vessel built in 2011 and sailing under the Singapore flag. The MMA Coral mostly serves MMA Offshore’s clients in Southeast Asia, but it has also conducted a number of scopes in Australia. The ship is an excellent asset for anchor handling scopes, ocean towing, and basic supply needs. The vessel’s dynamic location allows for optimal agility when working near offshore installations, and its cargo capacity ensures consistent supply assistance.
