The City of Perth is set to host this year’s World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The decision was announced overnight in Houston at the World Energy Cities Partnership Working Group Meeting, which Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas and CEO Michelle Reynolds attended.

Zempilas expressed his delight that the City’s proposal was successful and his eagerness to host the other member cities in Perth later this year.

“Perth is a founding member of the WECP and hosting the AGM will continue to cement our City’s reputation as a world leader in transitioning to a more sustainable energy future,” Zempilas said.

According to Zempilas, Western Australia is the Indo-Pacific resource and energy powerhouse and is at the vanguard of the next generation of renewable energy production. Zempilas added that the City is happy to highlight the sector’s efforts in the energy transition to better sustainability outcomes.

“The AGM will provide a platform to promote our member cities successful initiatives and connect business, academia and innovation hubs, providing WECP cities with the opportunity to partner on energy transition strategies and economic development,” Zempilas stated.

The WECP brings together leading energy cities from all continents committed to promoting the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
