The 24th Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar (AGES) begins today in Alice Springs, with a record number of delegates expected to attend.
The Northern Territory Government‘s flagship exploration event, AGES, highlights the most recent geological and exploration discoveries on the Territory’s resource potential.
“AGES is the Northern Territory Government’s flagship exploration event, currently 19 mining projects are working towards a Final Investment Decision in the Territory with a combined value of over $8.3 billion and the potential to create nearly 6000 construction jobs,” Minister for Mining and Industry Nicole Manison said.
The AGES program will feature presentations by the NT Geological Survey (NTGS) and its partners, including Geoscience Australia, on the most recent results from pre-competitive geoscience programs in the Territory.
This covers presentations from exploration companies on the most recent results and exploration concepts in the State.
The conference is part of a larger plan to recruit and encourage investment in the Territory. It is backed up by the State Government’s Resourcing the Territory funding initiative, which provides $9.5 million annually to support the exploration industry.
“The Northern Territory Government is advancing the Territory’s resources industry to achieve a $40B economy by 2030, and is providing ongoing funding programs to support resource exploration through the Resourcing the Territory initiative,” Minister Manison said.
NTGS issued the Critical Minerals in the Northern Territory 2023, which documents the Territory’s current resource endowment and emerging exploration potential for critical minerals.
AGES is hosted in conjunction with the Alice Springs Mining Services Expo, which allows Territory businesses to demonstrate their products, services, and local capabilities to assist exploration and mining ventures.
“The Northern Territory is underexplored for critical minerals and the demand for these minerals is only expected to grow to support renewable energy, battery storage and high-technology industries,” Minister Manison added.
