Tietto Minerals Limited has appointed Matt Wilcox, most recently the company’s executive director and chief operating officer (COO), as managing director and CEO.

In his previous role, he oversaw the construction and commissioning of the Abujar Gold Mine and played a big role in the mine’s production ramp-up.

Before joining Tietto in 2021, he worked as the chief development officer of West African Resources.

Earlier in his career, he worked as a project director at Nordgold and as a senior process engineer at Amec Foster Wheeler.

Adertisement

Wilcox’s appointment comes after Tietto Managing Director Caigen Wang announced his decision to retire.

Tietto Chairman Francis Harper said the company is excited to welcome Wilcox as managing director and CEO after his leadership as COO and executive director.

“Prior to joining Tietto in 2021, Matt and his operating team were responsible for constructing multiple large-scale carbon in-leach and heap leach gold mines in a variety of jurisdictions over a 20-year period,” Harper added.

He stated that as Abujar comes into full production in the third quarter, Wilcox and the management team will work to progress the heap leach feasibility study towards a decision point by the end of 2023.
