Axiom Mining Limited has appointed Mr Robert Barraket to the Board of Directors as the new Non-Executive Chairman.
According to the ASX Announcement, Mr Barraket’s appointment became effective on Friday when he took on the role from outgoing Chairman Mr Stephen Williams.
Mr Barraket’s appointment was welcomed by the company’s CEO Mr Ryan Mount who thanked Mr Williams in the name of the whole company for his “strategic oversight, guidance and commitment over the past five years.”
“Under his stewardship, Axiom has achieved an enviable status within the nickel industry in the Asia Pacific region – surmounting fierce competition during one of the toughest economic environments in recent history,” he said.
With nearly 50 years of experience in legal practice, Mr Barraket has worked as a legal advisor to numerous international and Australian mining and mineral exploration companies in Australia and abroad.
He currently serves as the Chairman and Partner of Barraket Stanton Lawyers in Sydney.
“Mr Barraket’s vast legal expertise in international mining transactions as well as extensive corporate development experience will be invaluable to Axiom as we work towards our goal of becoming one of the region’s most significant and profitable producers,” Mr Mount said.
Axiom Mining is the developer of the Isabel Nickel Project in the Solomon Islands – one of the largest nickel-laterite deposits in the Pacific with a historic non-JORC Resource estimate of 159 million tonnes at 1.045% nickel and 0.07% cobalt.
