BlueScope Steel appoints Alumina’s former CEO John Bevan new Non-Executive Director

Graham Kraehe, Chairman of BlueScope Steel, yesterday announced that Mr John Bevan, former CEO of Alumina, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director.

According to the ASX release by BlueScope Steel, the decision is effective immediately and Mr Bevan will nominate for election by shareholders at the Annual General Meeting scheduled for November.

“We are very pleased to welcome John to the Board. His significant experience in heavy industrial operations and experience as a supplier to the steel industry globally will be a great asset to the BlueScope Board,” said Mr Kraehe.

Mr Bevan recently retired as Alumina’s CEO and is currently a Non-Executive Director of Ansell Limited. He spent 29 years of his career in a wide range of senior management roles with BOC Group, including as a director on The BOC Group plc Board, Chief Executive Process Gas Solutions with responsibility for the bulk and tonnage business for the entire BOC group, Chief Executive Asia and country lead roles in the United Kingdom, Thailand and Korea.
