Downer EDI Limited wins $70 million NT mining contract

Downer EDI Limited (Downer), a leading provider of engineering and infrastructure management services, yesterday announced it had received a Notice of Intent from Crocodile Gold Corp for the award of a mining services contract at the Cosmo Gold Mine in the Northern Territory.

Downer will provide underground mining services at Crocodile’s Cosmo Gold Mine, one of three mines Crocodile Gold operates in Australia, aside from the Fosterville Gold Mine and Stawell Gold Mine, both located in Victoria.

According to the media announcement by Downer, the two-year deal is valued at approximately $70 million and is set to commence in March 2014.

“Our highly skilled and experienced underground mining team looks forward to working with Crocodile Gold Corp on this important project,” said Chief Executive Officer of Downer, Grant Fenn.

According to Mr Fenn, Downer is one of Australia’s leading diversified mining contractors.

The scope of work includes development, mining and all other associated works to maintain the required supply of mill feed ore at the mine’s underground operations, known as Cosmo Deeps.
