Empire Resources has announced the completion of a 1.8km road diversion around its Penny’s Find gold mine, 50km northeast of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
Empire Resources Managing Director David Sargeant said the existing road will be decommissioned, allowing full mine development to complete.
He said the completion of the road was partly delayed by recent heavy rains in the Eastern Goldfields which provided a rigorous test for the new road’s ability to handle flood events.
“Although construction of the road diversion took longer than expected, its successful completion allows us to now move ahead with full mining operations in the New Year,” Mr Sargeant concluded.
According to the company, the new road is also open for public after receiving approval by the Kalgoorlie – Boulder Council.
