The Gatton AgTech Showcase, set to be held on 1-2 November, will feature cutting-edge agricultural technology that could significantly impact the future of farming.

The Queensland Government and Hort Innovation are inviting Australian horticulture growers, agribusinesses, technology enthusiasts, consultants, researchers, and students to the event, which will showcase the most recent advances in AgTech.

“Agriculture is a $23 billion industry in Queensland and we need to keep at the cutting edge of technology if we want to keep creating the good jobs that come from it,” Minister for Agricultural Industry Development and Fisheries and Minister for Rural Communities Mark Furner said.

According to Minister Furner, Queensland aims to be at the forefront of AgTech development, and events like this provide valuable insights into the industry’s future.

Among other developments, the Showcase will include cutting-edge innovations in robotics, sensors, drones, protected cropping, postharvest management, cover cropping, and strip tillage.

Visitors will be able to see firsthand the most recent AgTech advancements, some of which will be introduced to Australia for the first time.

“With Australian horticulture one of the fastest-growing agricultural sectors in Australia, exposure to new technologies that bring on-farm efficiencies have never been more important,” Hort Innovation Chief Executive Brett Fifield said.

The Gatton AgTech Showcase key highlights include:

  • Live field robotics demonstrations from industry leaders such as Robotti, FarmDroid, SwarmFarm Robotics, Stout, and more;
  • Displays of cutting-edge postharvest and protected-cropping technologies that are revolutionising how crops are handled and cultivated;
  • Innovative data analytics tools and decision-support systems that provide farmers with actionable insights for more efficient and sustainable farming practices; and
  • A diverse set of suppliers and researchers assisting in developing and implementing AgTech solutions.

The Gatton AgTech Showcase is made possible by the project “Driving ag-tech adoption across Australia,” which is funded by Hort Innovation’s Hort Frontiers strategic partnership initiative, with co-investment from the Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF) and Australian Government contributions.
