The conference will provide a rare opportunity for governments, companies, suppliers, media and investors to share their past experiences and seek future possibilities for investment in Latin America’s mining sector.

Attending Australian miners will be able to enhance the relations with Latin America’s mining sector and establish direct and joint projects with their Latin American counterparts that will allow them to tap into the continent’s vast, unexploited orebodies.

“With its strong growth trends and growing economic clout, Latin America has risen in recent years to become a vital part of the international economy, with the resources industry a key part of this emergence,” it says in the press release by Latin America Down Under.

“The Australian Government is working to enhance its relations with the nations and the economies of Latin America and a particularly strong partnership is emerging in the mining sector.”

The 2014 Latin America Down Under attracted more than 300 delegates from business, government, academia and media.

This year’s conference will be attended by representatives from a number of Australian mining companies and key Government officials from both Australia and Latin America, including Mario Alfonso Cantu Suarez, general coordinator of mining at Mexico’s Ministry of Economy and Javier Cordova Unda, Ecuador’s Minister of Mining.

The 2015 Latin America Down Under will also be attended by the vice-president of promotion and development at Colombia’s National Mining Agency, Carolina Rojas Hayes, the deputy secretary for water resources in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Monica Porto, and the Chilean Copper Commission’s executive vice president Cochilco Sergio Hernandez.
