“Recent recoveries of Specials (diamonds weighting more than 10.8 carats) by Lulo alluvial mining company Sociedade Minerira Do Lulo (SML) include two more large diamonds weighing 77 carats and 71 carats,” the company said in a statement.

“These Specials follow the recent recovery if white Type IIa D-colour diamonds weighing 172 carats, 104 carats and 72 carats, and a 39 carat pink, the largest and most valuable fancy coloured diamond recovered to date at Lulo. The five white diamonds will be included in diamond sales scheduled for the current December 2016 Quarter.”

As announced earlier this week, the Lulo partners have commenced commissioning of the modules for the new XRT diamond processing and recovery stream, which will provide the capacity for the 150 tonne per hour plant to recover individual diamonds of up to 1,100 carats.
