Lucapa Diamond Company has validated positive historical results at the Brooking Diamond Project in WA, with macro and micro diamond and lamproite indicator minerals now recovered from within and near tenement area.
Located in the West Kimberley lamproite province in WA, the Brooking Diamond Project comprises 2 exploration licences covering 128km2.
Lucapa, which is acquiring 80% interest in Brooking under a Heads of Agreement executed with Leopold Diamond Company, said its preliminary exploration works have validated historic exploration results by Leopold and other explorers, confirming the Brooking project as being prospective for lamproite diamond discoveries.
Consequently, the company has commenced the next stage of exploration, which involves conducting ground-based electromagnetic surveys over 11 selected areas to define the drilling targets.
“The drilling program will aim to identify lamproite pipes in the West Lamproite field that could be similar in nature to the Ellendale E9 and E4 pipes, which, when in production, produced more than 50% of the world’s rare, fancy yellow diamonds,” Lucapa told the ASX.
Lucapa said it will now conduct detailed ground EM surveys over each of these 11 target areas to define drill targets.
“This survey work is scheduled to commence this month, weather and ground conditions permitting,” reads the company’s statement.
