WA’s MACA has won a contract to provide open pit mining services to the Antas North Copper project in Brazil.
The company said in a statement to the ASX that it has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Avanco Resources to perform drilling, blasting, loading and hauling work for a contract worth approximately $120 million over a 5 year period.
The project, which is located in the Carajás Mineral Province in Northern Brazil, will be MACA’s second Brazilian operation following an agreement with Beadell Resources for a mining partnership on Beadell’s Tucano gold project in Brazil.
MACA’s Operations Director Geoff Baker said the agreement will diversify the Company’s current commodity base to include copper.
“The project is MACA’s second with a Perth headquartered company operating in Brazil,” Mr Baker added.
“Just as the opportunity to tender the Antas North project was based on existing relationships, MACA will now leverage off existing infrastructure and relationships developed since we commenced operations in Brazil with Beadell Resources.”
