The Hot Rubble website www.hotrubble.com.au was launched last week at the Resources and Engineering Skills Alliance (RESA) Skills and Workforce Summit in Adelaide.

Minister for Employment, Higher Education and Skills, Grace Portolesi, revealed the website is a dedicated ‘one-stop’ career resource aimed at connecting people with South Australia’s mining industry.

“It gives people in-depth information about the mining industry, including jobs, salaries, locations and lifestyle as well as training and education pathways to get into the industry,” she said.

For people already employed in the mining and resources sector, Hot Rubble is said to provide a range of options to fast-track their careers. The website was developed specifically for the South Australian mining sector, providing case studies of how people have made the move into mining and resources.

The website also uses social media to connect  people wanting to enter the industry and those already in it, so that they are able to share their experience.

“RESA developed the Hot Rubble website in consultation with the mining sector to ensure the information is current and relevant to users,” said Grace Portolesi.

RESA Chief Executive Officer, Phillip de Courcey, said the mining boom of the last five years has shown that the mining sector represents a multitude of opportunities for South Australians.

“Many people have learnt that mining is a not just about big trucks and giant earth movers – apart from those, there are literally hundreds of roles from catering and cleaning to shipping and processing to medical and business services.”
