Five months after former BHP Billiton Executive Alberto Calderon was named Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Orica, the company has announced another executive appointment.
Schlumberger’s Angus Melbourne is now Orica’s Group Executive and President, Australia Pacific and Indonesia.
Mr Melbourne will join Orica in January 2016 and replace Richard Wilson, who has been Acting President, Australia/Indonesia during the executive search process.
Mr Wilson will continue with the company as its new Vice President, Global Accounts and Operational Excellence.
The announcement was made on Friday by Mr Calderon who said that Mr Melbourne was a “world class” executive.
“I am delighted that we have secured a world class executive in Angus to lead our Australia Pacific and Indonesia business. Throughout his extensive career at Schlumberger, Angus has had a lead role in a number of initiatives to identify, develop and implement major strategic and operational improvements and initiatives. In particular, he has exceptional capabilities in the delivery of technology focused customer solutions to grow and embed market share, “ Mr Calderon said in an ASX Announcement.
“Angus’ skills and experience are strongly aligned with Orica’s future, in which our competitive strength will be in our knowledge-based technology and innovation. As such, I expect he will play a key role in shaping Orica’s strategic direction and further building Orica’s market leadership.”
