The Queensland Government announced that the 180MW Dulacca Wind Farm has officially been connected, providing a boost to the Queensland Energy and Jobs Plan.

According to the State Government, the feat comes days following the last solar panel was installed at the Western Downs Green Power Hub in the Southern Renewable Energy Zone.

The wind farm’s 43 turbines have been completed, and the project is now in the testing and commissioning phase.

When fully operational, the wind farm will generate enough renewable energy to power more than 54,000 Queensland homes.

Adertisement

“Queensland’s Southern Renewable Energy Zone is attracting thousands of workers to build the biggest wind farms in the nation as we power towards 70% renewables by 2032,” Minister for Energy, Renewables and Hydrogen Mick de Brenni said.

Minister de Brenni stated that the Dulacca Wind Farm will power South-east Queensland’s homes, businesses, and industries through the Queensland SuperGrid.

“The energisation of the Dulacca Wind Farm is an exciting milestone for Octopus Australia’s activities in Queensland and the Western Downs region, and we look forward to continuing our work within the Western Downs region to support the development of a local clean energy economy,” Octopus Australia Managing Director Sam Reynolds said.

According to RES CEO Matt Rebbeck, the company’s goal of building a sustainable energy future has reached a crucial turning point with the Dulacca Wind Farm becoming online.

“We are proud to contribute to Queensland’s renewable energy goals and look forward to powering the homes and businesses around the state with clean, affordable and reliable energy from this state-of-the-art wind farm,” Rebbeck added.

The wind farm is owned by Octopus Australia and was developed by RES.
