Cokal Limited has announced that PT Bumi Barito Mineral (BBM) has successfully completed a trial hauling by truck through its newly commissioned road.

The truck, owned and operated by Cokal’s wholly-owned logistics subsidiary, carried coal and traversed from Pit 3 to Batu Tuhup Jetty.

Cokal is also looking to add new trucks by the end of April to ensure continuous hauling operations.

The trucks will be owned and operated by Cokal’s PT Barito Samudera Nusantara (BSN).

BSN also handles the hauling and barging of coal from the BBM mine to Batu Tuhup Jetty.

According to Cokal CEO Karan Bangur, the improved road access and commencement of hauling from Pit 3 to Batu Tuhup Jetty are the final pieces of the puzzle that will enable sustainable deliveries to market.

“The commissioning of the road alongside the barging operations means BBM can consistently deliver coal to Batu Tuhup Jetty on a continuous basis,” he added.

Bangur noted that the road would serve as an essential part of the supply chain for both domestic and international customers and improve the delivery of coal to markets.

Cokal currently has interests in four projects in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, which is considered prospective for metallurgical coal.
