Toowoomba-based construction and mining services company, Wagners, has secured a renewal of its haulage services contract with Glencore for the haulage of zinc ore and tailings between George Fisher and Lady Loretta Mines and the Mount Isa Mines metal processing facility.
Glencore’s owns and operates the George Fisher and Lady Loretta underground mines which are located approximately 20km and 140km respectively from Mount Isa in north-west Queensland along with a processing facility in Mount Isa which is responsible for the production of zinc, lead and copper concentrates.
Wagners scope of works under the renewed contract will include the loading of the ore at the mine sites and its haulage to the processing facility in Mount Isa along with haulage of tailings from the processing facility back to both the George Fisher and Mount Isa Mines.
Wagners’ Chief Executive Officer, Cameron Coleman said the haulage services will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the term of the agreement utilising 22 triple and quad road train combinations.
“Wagners are really proud to be able to continue our long-standing relationship with Glencore in the delivery of these integral services for the George Fisher and Lady Loretta mining operations,” Mr Coleman said.
“The employment opportunities that this project provides is significant with over 80 personnel required to deliver the services.
