The NSW mining sector has been showcased in Sydney, highlighting vital technologies to over 7,500 participants worldwide at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC).

Deputy Premier and Minister for Resources Paul Toole claimed the mining conference was successful, noting it would return to the Harbour City in 2023.

“It has been a massive week for mining in NSW and an exciting time for our State to spruik our globally significant deposits of critical minerals and capitalise on their increasing demand across the world,” Deputy Premier Toole said.

Deputy Premier Toole stated that this year, NSW obtained IMARC, the largest mining event on the calendar, for the first time in its history, saying the event has resulted in a $17 million boost to the State’s economy.

According to him, IMARC assisted in connecting global mining leaders, governments, innovators, and educators from over 100 nations.

“We took advantage of this opportunity to showcase what NSW has to offer through our Critical Minerals Investment Showcase and the launch of the updated NSW Mining Investor Register, which connects 15 investment-ready projects with both domestic and international investors,” Deputy Premier Toole said.

Deputy Premier Toole added that exciting developments are taking place in the critical minerals and high-tech metals sectors, and NSW is well-positioned to be a global leader in creating emerging technologies for key defence, medical, and aerospace industries.

Business Events Sydney CEO Lyn Lewis-Smith celebrated the achievement, saying that securing the event for a second year is a big coup for Sydney.

“This is great result for Sydney, and is a testament to what can be achieved when industry and government come together in a truly collaborative partnership around a shared goal to build industries of the future,” Lewis-Smith said.

According to Deputy Premier Toole, NSW is enjoying an ‘exploration boom.’

“We expect this ‘boom’ to translate into significant growth in the mining sector so now is a great time to invest in an industry that contributes billions of dollars in economic activity, tens of thousands of jobs and is the lifeblood of many of our regional communities,” Deputy Premier Toole added.
