Galan Lithium Limited has appointed Maria Claudia Pohl Ibañez, as an Independent Non-executive Director.
Ibañez previously served as Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile’s (SQM) manager of quality assurance and regulatory affairs, as an independent non-executive director.
During Ibañez’s career at SQM, the executive held several senior leadership roles, including as the company’s lithium and potassium planning and studies manager.
She most recently served as managing partner and general manager of Chile-based Ad-Infinitum, a process engineering consultancy that focuses on lithium brine projects under study and development.
Before joining SQM in 2008, she worked as a business director at Bradford Educational Corporation.
Ibañez replaces founding Non-Executive Director Chris Chalwell, who has decided to resign in order to pursue his personal endeavours.
“It is a great achievement for Galan to attract a person of the calibre of Ms. Claudia Pohl to its Board. She brings substantial, broad lithium brine experience to the table and has a real desire to make a positive difference. Claudia joins the Galan Board at a significant time on our way to becoming a producer and will bring a new and exciting perspective to the team,” Galan Chairman Richard Homsany said.
Homsany also acknowledged and thanked Chris Chalwell for his contribution to Galan’s Board.
“I am truly honoured to be joining the Galan Board and at such an exciting point in Galan’s journey from early explorer to a pre-development future producer. I have watched Galan’s progress closely over the last several years and the Hombre Muerto resource that Galan has proved up, is truly world class and the envy of many in the industry. I look forward to joining my past SQM colleague Daniel Jimenez as well as Richard, JP and Terry in leading Galan towards becoming the next major lithium producer in South America,” Ibañez stated.
