Civmec has been awarded new contracts worth A$100 million for manufacturing, construction, and maintenance activities for the resources sector.

As of 30 March 2023, its total order book was at A$1.2 billion.

Albemarle Lithium

Civmec has been awarded three new contracts for the Albemarle Lithium Kemerton Expansion Project.

Adertisement

Tanks Contract

Civmec was granted a contract to build 25 carbon steel tanks for the Project. Before being delivered to the Kemerton site, these tanks will be fully constructed, welded, and assembled in Civmec’s Henderson factory. Deliveries will be phased throughout 2023.

Civil Works

After completing a significant component of the civil works for stage 1, Civmec has been awarded a contract for detailed earthworks and concrete works at the site, necessitating over 25,000m3 of concrete. Civmec will provide all necessary supplies, labour, supervision and administration, and plant and equipment. This activity will employ over 200 individuals at its peak.

Manufacture of Kilns

Metso was granted a third package of work for the production of eight kilns for the Project, ranging in length from 33 to 56 metres and diameter from 4 to 4 metres. The combined weight of the kilns is roughly 900 tonnes.

FMG Iron Ore

Civmec recently won two contracts from Fortescue Metals Group.

The first package includes additional fabrication work for the Iron Bridge Magnetite project, a joint venture between Fortescue subsidiary FMG Iron Bridge and Formosa Steel IB. Civmec will fabricate loose and modularised structures for a dry rejects extension consisting of approximately 300 tonnes of structural steel, conveyor modules, and platework, which will be completed at both its Henderson and Newcastle manufacturing facilities.

The second package covers the fabrication and supply of a process water tank for Fortescue’s Cloudbreak operations. The project will start right away.

Maintenance Awards

With fresh purchase orders approved across many sites, the Group’s maintenance teams on both the east and west coasts have continued to increase their market share. The division’s largest single order came from existing client Queensland Aluminium (QAL) and separate orders from other clients in the sector.

Other Clients’ projects include refractory, regular SMP maintenance, and scaffolding for forthcoming shutdowns at their individual locations.

Civmec’s maintenance division’s resources and energy team is also continuing to secure purchase orders from new and existing clients. These orders range from preparation for a major site shutdown to early contractor participation services and the performance of general maintenance and efficiency enhancement operations across client mine sites and port facilities.

Civmec’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Patrick Tallon, said: “We are very pleased to continue our relationship with Albemarle Lithium following the construction of their first two trains at Kemerton. The award of these contracts is testament to how our teams continue to deliver successful projects for our clients. These contracts are for the fifth Lithium project that we have been involved in, demonstrating how we are making a positive contribution to decarbonise the world’s energy supplies. Meanwhile, the recent awards across our maintenance division, particularly our more recent successes in increasing our client base, reaffirms our maintenance teams’ ability to demonstrate value to our clients. These maintenance contracts are an integral part of our long-term strategy to build a recurring and sustainable stream of income.”
