The Western Australian (WA) Government has welcomed the partnership between Infinite Green Energy (IGE) and Samsung C&T to develop and build the Arrowsmith Hydrogen Plant.

The Arrowsmith Hydrogen Plant, located 30 kilometres south of Dongara, is expected to produce up to 300 tonnes of green hydrogen per day, or 100,000 tonnes per year for domestic and international markets.

“The McGowan Government welcomes this exciting development which sees WA progress as a significant producer, exporter and user of this emerging renewable energy source,” Hydrogen Industry Minister Roger Cook said.

Minister Cook stated that partnerships like this are critical to achieving the 2030 goal outlined in the Western Australian Renewable Hydrogen Strategy, as well as the future prospects that come with it.

“With the crucial need to diversify and decarbonise here and around the world, the McGowan Government is committed to the renewable hydrogen sector to help reduce emissions to achieve net zero greenhouse emissions,” Minister Cook added.

According to the State Government, IGE aspires to be Australia’s first commercial Zero Carbon Hydrogen producer.

IGE is also working on the Northam MEG HP1, a renewable hydrogen project in collaboration with Samsung C&T.
