Minerals 260 Limited has appointed Luke McFadyen, most recently OZ Minerals‘ head of portfolio strategy and economics, as CEO, effective 1 July.
McFadyen is an accomplished mining executive, having worked at top-tier and global organisations, including BHP, South32, Syrah Resources, KPMG and International Copper Association Australia.
His LinkedIn profile highlights over 15 years of experience in economics, feasibility studies, commodity markets, risk assessment, financial risk, analytics, project management, innovation management, workshop facilitation and market analysis.
During his career at OZ Minerals McFadyen was responsible for the development and analysis of corporate strategy, market intelligence and group valuation, and led the internal independent assessment of growth opportunities, ranging from exploration to operational assets.
He is also a member of the company’s Steering Committee and led the valuation, due diligence and integration for OZ minerals during the recent BHP takeover process.
McFadyen will work closely with Minerals 260 founding Managing Director David Richards, who will transition to the role of executive director as the company continues to execute its growth strategy.
As part of the executive management succession process, Richards will transition to non-executive director, enabling him to continue to support the company.
Minerals 260 Chairman Anthony Cipriano said McFadyen is a “passionate and strategic” thinker that will be a great addition to the company’s senior leadership team.
“His recent role at OZ Minerals and extensive previous corporate experience has given him an excellent understanding of the value of exploration opportunities, such as the ones we have secured at Minerals 260, as the foundation to drive our growth and help build a successful resources business,” he added.
Meanwhile, McFadyen said he will be focussed on leading the company from a new explorer to an innovative mining company that aims to create value for stakeholders with the development of high-value critical and modern minerals assets.
