Monadelphous Group Limited has been awarded a major construction contract for Albemarle’s Kemerton lithium hydroxide plant expansion in Western Australia.
The $200 million contract includes front-end pyromet structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation works associated with two new lithium processing trains.
The award comes on the heels of the successful completion of construction packages on trains 1 and 2 and the recently granted long-term maintenance and sustaining capital projects contracts at Albemarle’s Kemerton operations.
Work will begin on-site later this year and will be finished in the second half of 2025.
According to Monadelphous Managing Director Zoran Bebic, this award, together with the one announced last week with Fortescue Metals Group for work at the Christmas Creek mine site, indicates the beginning of a new wave of big construction projects to hit the market.
“We are extremely pleased to have secured these key construction opportunities, and look forward to continuing to deliver high quality solutions for customers, as well as supporting local communities through the provision of employment and supply opportunities,” Bebic said.
