Premier Roger Cook has undertaken a trade mission to Indonesia with a delegation comprising 130 business and government representatives.
The delegation includes Minister for Culture and the Arts; Sports and Recreation; International Education; Heritage David Templeman, Minister for Mines and Petroleum; Energy; Hydrogen Industry; Industrial Relations Bill Johnston, and Minister for Agriculture and Food; Forestry; Small Business Jackie Jarvis.
The Indonesia Connect Roadshow provides a platform for the State to showcase itself as a known and trusted partner and an opportunity for WA businesses to participate in trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
“This historic trade mission to Indonesia — my first overseas mission as Premier — will play a central role in Western Australia’s future and specifically our plans to diversify our economy,” Premier Cook said.
“The sheer scale of this delegation demonstrates how seriously we take this relationship, which is why three key members of my Cabinet will be joining me on this mission, to represent as many Western Australian interests as possible,” Premier Cook added.
The Roadshow kicks off in Jakarta with the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit, hosted by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN).
The Summit will promote partnership prospects in the energy sector, providing delegates with a vital opportunity to increase the reputation of WA. It will also feature the Premier speaking on a panel about the importance of the State’s ties with the ASEAN region.
The mission’s Jakarta leg will also include an Energy Roundtable with KADIN on the margins of the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit.
The initiative aims to establish robust, sustainable, and valuable supply chains for both regions’ critical minerals and battery industries.
The Roundtable builds on a plan of action for critical minerals signed by Indonesian President Joko Widodo during his visit to Sydney in July.
“Indonesia is a recognised and trusted partner and that is why it is vital we explore new ways to deepen our relationship – one that delivers investment opportunities and local jobs for Western Australians,” Premier Cook said.
