AGL Energy and CSL have signed a seven-year renewable energy power purchase agreement (PPA), under which AGL will sell all electricity consumed by CSL’s Victorian operations.

CSL will acquire renewable energy certificates from AGL to match 100% of its electricity use under this PPA, with certificates initially expected to be generated by the Macarthur Wind Farm. Under the renewable energy certificate scheme, each renewable energy certificate reflects a quantity of renewable energy generated by an approved power station.

AGL Chief Customer Officer Jo Egan highlighted the advantages of renewable-linked PPA products that AGL can offer its customers.

“Renewable-linked PPAs like this one can assist our customers in their energy transition journey while also helping to support the ongoing operation of our renewable energy assets. We are pleased to partner with CSL on this important product for its business,” Egan said.

The Macarthur Wind Farm consists of 140 wind turbines with a capacity of 420 MW. Over the past decade, the wind farm has generated over 910,000 MWh of renewable energy annually, enough to power around 171,000 Australian households.
