Origin Energy Limited has received approval from the ACCC for the proposed acquisition of Origin by Brookfield Asset Management and MidOcean Energy, an entity managed by EIG Partners.

The authorisation is granted based on separate undertakings provided by Brookfield, AusNet, and MidOcean, and published by the ACCC.

According to Origin, the ACCC’s decision marks a significant milestone in Origin’s proposed acquisition, with the transaction still awaiting regulatory approvals from the Foreign Investment Review Board, National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator, and other foreign investment approvals, as the parties continue with the Scheme process.

The company said it is preparing the information shareholders will need to make an educated decision and have their say on the transaction, including the Scheme Booklet (and an Independent Expert’s Report) that will be distributed to shareholders.

Adertisement

Origin plans to distribute the Scheme Booklet, Independent Expert’s Report, and notice of the Scheme Meeting to shareholders in the coming weeks.
