AGL Energy and bp pulse have inked a three-year deal that will expand on AGL’s current Electric Vehicle (EV) at-home network and bp pulse’s existing on-the-go charging network to accelerate transport electrification.
The partnership, which coincides with the debut of AGL’s revised EV home energy plan in NSW in July, will provide consumers who sign up for that plan with a lower cost for public charging at bp pulse sites.
AGL and bp intend to develop products and services for EV drivers that make charging simple and cheaper, whether on the road or at home, hence reducing EV drivers’ range anxiety.
Another significant component of the agreement is the exploration and collaboration on deploying public charging infrastructure powered by renewable energy, which aligns with both companies’ vision to provide a low-carbon future in which customers are at the vanguard of the net zero transition.
By combining AGL’s expertise in charging at home with bp pulse’s public charging sites, the companies will look to provide EV drivers with a simple and integrated smart charging experience, making the switch to electric transportation easier.
The deal with bp pulse, according to AGL Chief Customer Officer Jo Egan, aligns with AGL’s commitment to supporting the electrification of the way consumers live, work, and move, and AGL will cooperate with bp pulse to create more enticing solutions for customers.
“The agreement aligns with AGL’s focus on supporting the electrification of transportation in Australia, enabling the shift to an electric vehicle to be easy for our customers. We are looking to build a seamless charging experience for electric vehicle drivers to help ensure charging is simple, accessible, and affordable – whether that is at home or on-the-go,” Egan said.
“The agreement recognises the pivotal role we play in shaping Australia’s future. As we transition to a low-carbon future, this agreement will empower our customers with innovative, sustainable and cost-effective EV charging solutions,” Egan stated.
bp pulse Asia-Pacific Vice President Sujay Sharma said bp and AGL intend to continue creating on-the-go charging, energy, and mobility options for clients.
“We’re putting the customer at the heart of our strategy; installing a fast and convenient EV charging network in key metropolitan and regional locations across Australia, and now, through this agreement, eligible AGL customers can take advantage of special rates to charge with bp pulse in New South Wales,” Sharma added.
