Black Cat Syndicate Limited has issued an update on its underground diamond drilling efforts at the Paulsens Gold Operation in Nanutarra, Western Australia (WA).
Black Cat stated that the infill and extensional drilling from the main zone returned high-grade assays from the upper parts of the mine.
According to the company, most holes drilled continue to intersect multiple mineralised veins with high-grade nuggety gold, demonstrating that the structure is live.
Current drilling efforts across the main zone are focussed on extending mineralisation in areas immediately adjacent to existing underground workings, which represent potential early production opportunities following a restart decision.
Paulsens, which is located 180 km west of Paraburdoo in WA, consists of an underground mine, numerous potential open pits and other related infrastructure.
The operation is currently on care and maintenance and has a resource of 3.7 metric tonnes at 3.3 g/t gold for 401-kilo ounces with numerous high-grade targets in the surrounding area.
At its Coyote Gold Operation, the company recorded a resource of 3.7 g/t gold for 645-kilo ounces with numerous high-grade targets in the surrounding area.
Black Cat is also looking to create a central processing facility near the Majestic Mining Centre east of Kalgoorlie.
The facility will be a traditional carbon-in-leach gold plant which is ideally suited to the company’s resources, as well as to third-party free milling ores located around Kalgoorlie.
Black Cat Managing Director Gareth Solly said the results highlight the near-term mining potential located in and around the existing Paulsens underground workings.
“The main zone was the source of the majority of the 900 plus kilo ounces produced to date and we are uncovering extensions to the main zone and more high-grade gold with every hole we drill,” he added.
Solly noted that the results will be included in the company’s May 2023 resource upgrade, which will form the basis for deciding to restart the operation in the middle of the year.
