A new online learning program for Western Australian-based small to medium-sized firms (SMEs) in the agrifood industry is now accessible to support their research, product development, and innovation goals.
CSIRO manages the Innovate to Grow: Agrifood WA program, backed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).
CSIRO SME Collaboration Manager Dr Monika Szabo stated that Innovate to Grow is a fantastic chance for businesses wishing to turn a concept into a feasible research and development (R&D) opportunity.
“Innovate to Grow aims to boost WA agribusinesses’ innovation performance by supporting businesses in advancing their ideas through the innovation pipeline and educating owners on how valuable R&D can be to them through this journey,” Dr Szabo said.
Dr Szabo added that participants could evaluate their technical and commercial difficulties, investigate their research, development, and innovation prospects, and develop practical business and funding plans with the help of seasoned researchers and innovation specialists.
According to DPIRD Investment Services Manager Peter May, the initiative provided an excellent opportunity for WA agrifood business to develop their business.
“In addition to the learning benefits from the program, participants will increase their professional network and become part of the program alumni,” May said.
May stated that the program supplements several existing DPIRD-supported agrifood industry innovation projects.
Applications are due by Monday, 13 March. The program will begin on Tuesday, 4 April.
