
Fortescue Metals Group has named Christine Morris as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Morris will be a member of the leadership team tasked with transforming Fortescue into a global green metals, energy, and products company while being the world’s finest, lowest-cost iron ore operator and swiftly decarbonising its operations to real zero.
According to Fortescue, Morris is a highly-regarded CFO with over 30 years of expertise in energy, media and telecom, manufacturing, and technology. Morris was most recently the CFO of Maersk Drilling in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she was in charge of Finance as well as the Global Business Services division. She was the CFO of BJ Services, an oilfield services firm, prior to joining Maersk Drilling. She also worked with Halliburton for seven years in several senior finance jobs. She is a board member and the chair of the audit committee at DOF ASA (a provider of integrated offshore services to the energy industry).
“Christine is a very experienced CFO with a successful track record in aligning financial and corporate strategy and leading the finance divisions of global organisations. I look forward to Christine joining Fortescue as CFO of Fortescue Metals and working together to maintain Fortescue’s position as the world’s best, lowest cost iron ore operator,” Fotescue Metals CEO Fiona Hick said.
Morris expressed her excitement at joining Fortescue and stated that she was committed to accomplishing the company’s aim of reducing emissions profitably and leading heavy industry internationally in decarbonisation.
“My focus will be on continuing to provide exceptional value for Fortescue shareholders and maintaining and growing the strength of our iron ore and emerging critical minerals business,” she said.

Morris will start at Fortescue in early July 2023.
