Queensland Pacific Metals Limited (QPM) subsidiary QPM Energy (QPME) has signed an Indigenous Land Use Agreement (ILUA) with Widi Aboriginal Corporation (WAC) to enable the development of QPME’s Northern Hub.
According to QPM, the signing of the ILUA is a significant step forward for QPME in achieving Native Title requirements. QPME is committed to providing employment, education, and training opportunities for the Widi People as part of the ILUA.
“The Widi people welcome and support QPM Energy’s developments in the Northern Bowen Basin and we look forward to working with David Wrench and his team on opportunities. We further endorse QPM Energy’s carbon abatement strategy, capturing waste gas from these mines and minimising the effect on our land and the environment around us,” WAC said.
The Queensland Government has granted QPME an Environmental Authority for the Northern Hub development, while Federal regulatory approvals are in the final stages of conditioning.
QPME’s waste gas collection project comprises the Northern and Southern Hubs, with the Southern Hub including the Moranbah Project and its associated gas processing and compression infrastructure.
The Northern Hub is located roughly 40 kilometres north of Moranbah, in an area of the Northern Bowen Basin believed to have large amounts of gas. QPME’s future plans include the construction of new infrastructure in the Northern Hub to collect additional waste gas and significantly increase production.
