The Australian Government has awarded International Graphite a $4.7 million grant under the Critical Minerals Development Program.
The grant, which is projected to be available on 1 June 2023, will aid in the development of the Company’s integrated mine-to-market graphite supply chain in Western Australia.
The Critical Minerals Development Program grants were announced by Minister for Resources Madeleine King MP on 18 May 2023.
The grant will cover feasibility studies for the Company’s proposed graphite mine at Springdale, advanced battery anode material production plant at Collie, and graphite micronising facility at Collie. The Company will gradually support those operations.
“Australia has set its sights on becoming a critical minerals powerhouse and we are thrilled that the Federal Government has recognised our potential to contribute to that vision,” International Graphite Managing Director and CEOI Andrew Worland said.
According to Worland, the funding is a vote of confidence for the company and it confirms that Springdale and Collie are essential to attaining global decarbonisation targets.
“By moving from mining to downstream production, we ensure the full value of our natural resources stays here in Australia whilst generating local jobs, supporting regional communities and developing new forward facing industries and minerals processing technologies,” Worland stated.
“We are proud to be partnering with both our Federal and State Governments to advance our Western Australian integrated graphite mine-to-market strategy,” he added.
