Regis Resources Limited has announced that the McPhillamys Gold Project has received final approval from NSW’s Independent Planning Commission (IPC).

The announcement follows a substantial process that included a review of the Department of Planning and Environment’s (DPE) Assessment Report, submissions from stakeholders and a public hearing held in February.

The final approval means that the McPhillamys Gold Project has been given the green light to commence operations.

According to Regis Managing Director Jim Beyer, the company is pleased with the IPC’s final determination, saying it can now proceed with its production ambitions at the McPhillamys Project.

“The project holds substantial potential for Blayney and its surrounding areas in Central Western NSW and we look forward to working with local communities, stakeholders and companies to mitigate the risks and concerns surrounding the project and establish this gold mine in a collaborative way,” Beyer said.

He added that the company is currently awaiting a response on the Federal Section 10 application and will move to incorporate the approval conditions into the finalised feasibility study, complete the funding strategy for the project and announce further developments in late 2023.

“McPhillamys is one of Australia’s largest undeveloped open-pittable gold resources and underpins significant value potential for Regis,” he stated.

The proposed project is for an 11-year, open-cut mining operation that is expected to provide an economic boost and other benefits to the local, NSW and Australian communities.
