Red Dirt Metals Limited has issued an update on its drilling activities at the Yinnetharra Lithium Project.

According to Red Dirt, new assay results show consistent, thick and predictable lithium mineralisation at the M1 pegmatite.

The company is currently focusing its exploration efforts on the Malinda prospect, which hosts approximately 50 mapped pegmatites, some of which have been drilled.

It added that drilling at Malinda is rapidly defining the scale of several lithium-bearing pegmatites, noting that the results demonstrate strong lithium continuity within the M1 pegmatite.

Extensional drilling efforts on the M47, M36 and M42 pegmatites are also ongoing, with further results expected to be released within the coming months.

Assay results have also confirmed the Jamesons prospect as a significant lithium prospect with assays from rock chip samples.

Initial field mapping and rock chipping undertaken at Jamesons led to the discovery of spodumene-bearing pegmatites in outcrop roughly 20 km west of the Malinda prospect.

The J5 pegmatite from which the rock chip was taken is one of more than 20 pegmatites identified at Jamesons, which has only seen minimal sampling to date.

According to the company, the Jamesons prospect remains on a pending tenement, with work underway to allow for further exploration to commence upon the tenement being granted.

“This project just keeps on producing brilliant hits. It’s hard to believe these results are from first-pass drilling at a project we acquired in September in a region already producing 55 per cent of the world’s annual lithium demands,” Red Dirt Executive Chairman David Flanagan said.

To date, the company has completed 101 holes across 21,150 m at Yinnetharra.

A further 77 holes are in the process of being assayed, with results due in batches throughout the coming months.

The company said it is also on track to complete an additional 230 holes before September.
