Pantoro South Pty Limited has confirmed the presence of a new high-grade lode system in the Mainfield reef system at the Norseman Gold Project following the completion of its phase 2 exploration drilling program.
The drilling program targeted the Mainfield South area, including previously untested structures and remnant ore blocks on the Mararoa Reef, known as Butterfly South and the Royal Standard Reef.
The results indicate a strike extent of approximately 150 m on all three structures, with drill intersections to a depth of 417 m below the surface in one lode.
The results also show that the striking reefs appear to be stacked and repeat at approximately 40 m intervals across the strike.
Additionally, indicators are showing that there could be up to five stacked reefs, which will be confirmed in future drilling efforts.
The mineralisation in Mainfield South can be accessed from the historic Viking decline using the existing ventilation rise infrastructure.
According to the company, many of the mineral resources defined to date remain open along strike and at depth, and most of those resources have only been tested to shallow depths.
It added that numerous anomalies and mineralisation occurrences are yet to be tested and placed into the mineral resources total.
According to Pantoro Managing Director Paul Cmrlec, mineralisation identified near the historic Viking decline can become an additional high-grade underground mine once sufficient drilling has been done.
“Work by Pantoro to date has identified high-grade mineralisation on the Mararoa Reef, the Royal Standard Reef and new North West trending structures detailed in this announcement,” he added.
Cmrlec said the potential orebodies that could be accessed through the single decline position have the potential to be an important high-grade ore source in the coming years.
The Norseman Project is located in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, approximately 725 km east of Perth and 200 km south of Kalgoorlie.
