Province Resources and Total Eren have obtained another section 91 licence over an additional 2,217 square kilometres of land in Western Australia’s Gascoyne region as their footprint for the HyEnergy green hydrogen project grows.

In a statement, Province Resources says the recent licences were built on licences already granted over 305 square kilometres of land in the region, taking the total area under licence to over 3,000 square kilometres.

The section 91 licences granted under Western Australia’s Land Administration Act enable the company to carry out studies to support feasibility activities for the HyEnergy Project.

According to Province Resources, the latest licences were issued after Province Resources and Total Eren secured support from the Yinggarda Aboriginal Corporation and the Nganhurra Thanardi Garrbu Aboriginal Corporation.

The company also says that agreements with the owners of several pastoral stations in the region have been finalised.

Province Resources CEO and Managing Director David Frances said the section 91 licences would enable the Province and Total Eren to undertake important feasibility activities.

It would also pave the way for the HyEnergy project’s proponents to secure long-term tenure through the Land Administration Act’s existing provisions.

“The issue of these licences was only possible with the support of the Gascoyne community and we are delighted with the way stakeholders have embraced the HyEnergy Project, Securing land tenure is a critical element of this project and it is pleasing to have the support of Traditional Owners, pastoralists, and the Local and State Government in this process,” Francess stated.

He expressed their excitement to pursue the next steps of the HyEnergy Project with Total Eren.

According to Frances, Province Resources and Total Eren share a commitment to play a role in Australia’s green hydrogen strategy
