The PRL 26 (Udacha) licence is operated by Adelaide-based Beach Energy. Rawson holds 10% interest and the Udacha-1 gas production will provide Rawson with its first production revenues.

According to Rawson Chairman Allister Richardson, the Udacha-1 well has been tied back as producing well to the Middleton production facility. He said initial production is expected to stabilise at 1.0 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd), increasing to 1.6 MMscfd once compression is available at Middleton in early 2017.

“The commencement of production from Udacha-1 represents a significant milestone for Rawson. It is the first ever production for the Company, providing a revenue stream to Rawson,” Mr Richardson added.

Adertisement

Rawson is involved in oil and gas exploration in Papua New Guinea and is continuing to commercialise its existing assets in the Copper and Otway basins in Australia.
