Mining industry giant Rio Tinto has tapped software-as-a-service provider Schrole Group for the delivery of on-the-job training programs in Western Australia.

Under a $377,700 purchase order, Schrole Develop, the business unit that creates accredited training solutions to meet specific client needs, will provide 28 courses to approximately 220 staff across Rio Tinto’s facilities in WA.

Schrole has provided contextualised courses for Rio Tinto domestically and globally since 2007.

The company has also provided training programs for other Australian mining companies, such as BHP Limited and Fortescue Metals Group.

Rob Graham, managing director at Rio Tinto, said Rio Tinto’s staff need to be equipped with the capability to cater to the customer demand for minerals Rio Tinto provides for green technologies.

“Rio Tinto is on the front lines of leading change and innovation in the mining industry, particularly as the world moves toward the green energy transition,” Graham said. “Schrole Develop’s training supports the Rio Tinto team to meet this growing demand for green minerals while maintaining industry best practice in on-the-job training.”

The latest contract is consistent with course delivery in the prior corresponding period and is slated to be invoiced in the second quarter of fiscal year 2023.
