
Kathleen Valley Project Update
Liontown Resources has provided an update on the development progress of its Kathleen Valley Lithium Project.
According to Liontown, on-site construction activities commenced in October 2022 after making a Final Investment Decision (FID) in June 2022 and receiving all necessary clearances. Since then, the Company has made tremendous progress in all areas of the Project and continues on track to bring the initial output from the process plant to market by the middle of next year.
The lodging village, earthworks, concrete supply and installation, the Tailings Storage Facility, and the Power Purchase Agreement have all been granted, Liontown said, as have preliminary works for the open pit mining contract. Site development, including the construction of the lodging village, concrete installation, and preparation for the start of open pit mining, is moving quickly.
Critical minerals assessment of Mulga Rock Project
Deep Yellow Limited shared an update on the evaluation program for the Mulga Rock Project (MRP), located in Western Australia’s Great Victoria Desert.
Following up on its pre-merger studies, Deep Yellow said it began an evaluation program as indicated on 25 November 2022, after spotting a chance for a significant potential increase in Project value by putting more of an emphasis on recovering crucial minerals from the existing Mulga Rock resource shells. To effectively utilise the resource base of the MRP, according to Deep Yellow, this activity and any potential future recovery of essential minerals will be carried out within the parameters of the Project’s current approvals framework.
Outstanding assays returned from initial Yinnetharra Lithium drill hole
Red Dirt Metals Limited has provided an update on drilling at the Yinnetharra Lithium Project (Yinnetharra) in Western Australia’s Gascoyne region.
As the Diamond Drill holes were completed on 28 November 2022, Red Dirt said visible spodumene was found. The YNRD005 result has been returned, with a substantial intercept and high-grade lithium.
According to Red Dirt, the preliminary assay result demonstrates the considerable lithium mineralisation at the Yinnetharra Project and the intriguing potential of the land the Company will aggressively explore in 2023.
Outstanding lithium grades at Andover to drive Q1 drilling
Azure Minerals Limited announced that its continuing lithium-focused pegmatite sample exploration program across the Andover Project continues to provide exceptionally high grades of lithium up to 4.87% Li2O.
According to Azure, it has begun an aggressive growth plan to enhance the Company’s multicommodity opportunity on the Andover Project. The company added that lithium exploration would be accelerated, with the first lithium-focused drilling programme set to begin in late February. Meanwhile, Azure said nickel exploration and mine development studies at the Andover and Ridgeline Deposits will also be carried out until 2023.
American Rare Earths on target to define significant JORC resource at Halleck Creek
American Rare Earths has announced that its Halleck Creek rare earths project in Albany County, Wyoming, has completed its 38-hole, 5,726m drilling program.
With the completion of the drilling program, American Rare Earths said it is one step closer to identifying a significant maiden JORC resource. According to the company, it drilled to a depth of 150m during this expedition, a 50% increase over and beyond the 100m depth drilled for the first drill campaign and was not included in the exploratory objectives revealed last year.
Kangankunde Project update
Lindian Resources Limited has provided an update on the Kangankunde Rare Earths Project in Malawi.
In a statement, Lindian reported that it has now finished paying Tranche 2 (US$7.5m) to the vendors under the Sales Agreement with Rift Valley and its 100% owned exploration and mining assets of Kangankunde. According to Lindian, it was done in accordance with the terms agreed upon with Rift Valley Resource Developments Limited to gradually acquire 100% of the Project.
Austral releases December 2022 Quarterly Activities Report
Austral Resources Australia Ltd has presented an overview of its activities for the Quarterly period ending December 2022.
According to Austral, the company has achieved close to name plate output from its Anthill project in the December quarter, with 976t of copper cathode produced in December and 2,507t of cathode produced for the quarter.
Austral said costs fell in the fourth quarter of 2022. Austral’s mining plan remained 10% ahead of schedule during the quarter, but costs were decreased. According to Austral, this accomplishment was made possible by the Company’s capacity to promptly and efficiently manage unforeseen and uncontrolled challenges, such as the rains experienced by the region where Austral’s mining assets are located and the spike in diesel costs during 2022.
Whitehaven Coal Quarterly Report (Q2 FY23)
Whitehaven Coal continued to supply consistently high volumes of high-quality coal from Narrabri in the December quarter of FY23 (Q2), the company announced.
In a statement, Whitehaven Coal said the December quarter’s ROM output increased by 21% over the September quarter, because of ongoing good performance at Narrabri. Saleable coal production fell 4%, owing mostly to fewer coal processing days due to flooding-related closures of open-cut sites and the Gunnedah coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP).
International Graphite confirms third high-grade discovery at Springdale Graphite Project
International Graphite Limited has released the results of ten more reverse circulation (RC) exploration holes drilled at the Springdale Graphite Project.
In a statement, International Graphite said since June 2022, almost 6,000 metres of mineral resource and exploration drilling had been performed at Springdale. According to the company, the drilling attempts to raise the status of the existing Springdale Mineral Resource Estimate from inferred to indicated. It also intends to increase the inventory of mineral resources by exploration drilling in areas identified by an aerial electromagnetic geophysical (AEM) survey conducted in 2019, the company added.
Top Drilling Manager Appointed
Todd Gentles has been named Drilling Superintendent for the upcoming helium drilling program at the Red Helium Project, Grand Gulf Energy Ltd announced.
According to Grand Gulf, Gentles has the necessary in-depth knowledge and appropriate experience in drilling and completing helium wells in the Paradox Basin, where the Red Helium Project is located.
