Strandline Resources Limited has announced that the first shipment of chloride ilmenite product is now completed at Coburn Project.

This first shipment of ilmenite is part of the Coburn Project’s downstream Mineral Separation Plant (MSP) commissioning and ramp-up. The MSP is intended to separate heavy mineral concentrate (HMC) from the Coburn Project’s Wet Concentration Plant (WCP) into valuable critical minerals such as zircon, titanium (rutile and ilmenite), and zircon in concentrate product (ZIC), including monazite rare earths.

A shipment of roughly 6,000 metric tonnes of ilmenite (a titanium ore) was loaded in bulk cargo form at the Port of Geraldton. The consignment is bound for Strandline’s offtake customer in America. It will be utilised to produce high-quality titanium dioxide TiO2, which will be mainly used in pigments for paint, paper, ink, and plastic applications.

The MSP is undergoing commissioning and tuning of equipment and process circuits, with a particular emphasis on enhancing recoveries, specifications, and inventories of other end-product streams of zircon and rutile.

Adertisement

Preparations are already underway to coordinate the second shipment of ilmenite, which is expected for September or October, with the exact date dictated by the offtake customer’s shipping schedule. While the MSP is being commissioned, Strandline intends to continue exporting HMC or ZIC products.
