Term contract for the Iron Bridge Operations awarded to SRG Global’s Aboriginal Joint Venture

SRG Global Ltd has announced a five-year term contract with the Iron Bridge Operations has been awarded to its Aboriginal Joint Venture Bugarrba.

In a statement, SRG Global said the five-year agreement with Iron Bridge is a Master Agreement for Maintenance and Services Shutdown to offer designed scaffold services for its new magnetite project in Western Australia (WA).

Bugarrba is a collaboration between members of the Njamal People and SRG Global. The traditional area of the Njamal people spans 42,000 square kilometres in the Pilbara and is known as ‘Country’ in the Njamal language. Bugarrba’s aim is to create meaningful and long-term job opportunities for its people and all Aboriginal people.

contract for the Njamal people and are enthusiastic about cooperating with Iron Bridge Operations, which is based on the Njamal people’s ancestral grounds.

“SRG is tremendously proud of our Bugarrba joint venture, seeing its continued success and contribution to Aboriginal people, and working with Iron Bridge Operations, on what is such an innovative project for Western Australia,” SRG Global Managing Director David Macgeorge stated.

The Iron Bridge Magnetite Project is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fortescue Metals Group Ltd and a joint venture between Formosa Steel IB Pty Ltd and FMG Magnetite Pty Ltd

The project is expected to produce 22 million tonnes per annum of high-grade Iron Bridge 67 per cent Fe magnetite concentrate, with the first production beginning in March 2023. 

Iron Bridge is a strategic investment that will allow Fortescue to supply customers with a broader range of products while expanding production and shipping volumes. Iron Bridge, located 145 kilometres south of Port Hedland, contains the world-class North Star and Glacier Valley Magnetite ore deposits and is one of the few large-scale iron ore growth projects in the world.
