A delegation led by Training Minister Simone McGurk will fly to the United Kingdom (UK) to showcase Western Australia (WA) as a leading destination for investment and promote major green energy initiatives.

The trip will focus on how WA and the UK can work together to develop a workforce that is necessary to support opportunities around renewable energy

“The workforce partnership between our two countries has always been strong, with the UK making up WA’s largest migrant population,” Minister McGurk said.

According to the WA Government, the SPE Offshore Europe exhibition being held in Aberdeen, Scotland is a fundamental engagement for this mission.  It is the 50th anniversary of the event and will focus on pushing the oil and gas sector into a green energy world.

Minister McGurk is also expected to attend a meeting with the Nuclear Skills Task Force in London and the Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Transport, Net Zero, and Just Transition.

“I’m looking forward to meeting with leaders and experts in the United Kingdom and using the knowledge gained there to help develop the skills and workforce for our green energy future,” she added.
