The Victorian Government has announced the new round for the energy bill-busting $250 Power Saving Bonus is now open, assisting households in managing the cost of living.

Every Victorian home, regardless of whether they have received payments under prior rounds, is entitled to receive a $250 Power Saving Bonus when they browse the Victorian Energy Compare website, according to Acting Minister for Energy and Resources Ingrid Stitt.

“Families right across Victoria are facing high costs of living, and this new round of the $250 Power Saving Bonus helps them pay the bills and make sure they are getting the best deal on their energy,” Minister Stitt said.

Since the $250 Power Saving Bonus was introduced on 1 July 2022, the State Government reported that over 1.8 million households had received the reward by comparing their energy bills, with thousands discovering new, lower-cost options to save money all year.

Consumers can apply for the payment through the Victorian Energy Compare website, which gives them access to the best energy deals in their localities, possibly saving them hundreds of dollars.

The State Government is also easing the burden of rising living costs through the new Energy Assistance Program. The program is a free service that offers one-on-one assistance to energy consumers in need.

The Program is a $3.75 million project that will assist Victorians struggling with their power bills to navigate the energy market, apply for eligible grants and discounts, locate and switch to better offers, and address billing problems.

“We’re making sure that Victorians facing hardship receive the Power Saving Bonus, and get the support they need to access concessions for cheaper power through The Energy Assistance Program,” Minister Stitt said.

Minister Stitt added, “We have also revived the State Electricity Commission – delivering government-owned renewable energy, cutting energy costs and helping create 59,000 jobs across our state.”
