This week, the McGowan Government is giving Western Australian (WA) food and beverage companies the opportunity to display their goods on a worldwide platform as part of the international ThaiFex Anuga 2023 trade show.
According to the Western Australian Government, ThaiFex Anuga is Asia’s largest food and beverage trade fair, with over 60,000 guests and 2,700 exhibitors expected. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is sending a delegation of 12 WA businesses to the trade fair in Bangkok, which runs from 23 May to 27 May.
The State Government added that Thailand is a promising export market, with rising disposable income and a strong visitor market driving up demand for foreign food and beverages. In 2020-2021, the value of WA agrifood exports to Thailand was around $114 million.
Agriculture and Food Minister Jackie Jarvis stated that WA provides an amazing variety of high-quality, sustainable, and diversified food and beverages.
“Thailand is an emerging market with increasing consumer demand for premium seafood, meat, dairy, strawberries, and value-added products,” Minister Jarvis said.
The ThaiFex Anuga provides an exciting chance for businesses to network with retailers, distributors, and major food service providers in order to explore ways to fulfil rising consumer demand and improve exports.
WA products on display will include oysters, octopus, sardines, salmon, and tuna, as well as yoghurt and strawberries.
Gourmet value-added items will also be available, such as black truffle oil, salt, honey, and honeycomb, lupin-based flour and pasta products, seasoned breadcrumbs, and rubs and sauces.
“With more than 50,000 visitors expected at the ThaiFex trade show this week, this provides a fantastic platform for our WA businesses to promote their products and build relationships and business connections within the Thai and IndoChina markets,” Minister Jarvis said.
