The Western Australian Government has launched the latest round of the Carbon for Farmers Vouchers program, providing farmers with expert advice to enhance their operations through carbon farming.

Carbon farming is a growing industry in Western Australia involving storing carbon in trees and soil to address climate change.

According to the State Government, it also offers significant economic benefits by generating tradeable carbon credits that can be sold to secondary markets to offset emissions.

The voucher program now accepts applications, with grants of up to $15,000 to support individuals or groups establishing projects.

“The Carbon for Farmers Voucher Program will help farmers access tailored agronomic and business advice, to take their first steps into a sustainable farming future,” Minister for Agriculture and Food and Minister for Forestry Jackie Jarvis said.

“Interest in this program continues to grow, as industry becomes more aware of carbon farming and the significant potential flow-on economic benefits,” Minister Jarvis continued.

Individuals or groups embarking on their journey may also be eligible for future funding through the State Government’s $15 million Carbon Farming and Land Restoration Program.

“The Cook Government is committed to tackling climate change, while also insuring the resilience of WA’s Agriculture industry,” Minister Jarvis added.
